RDS Instructor

Professionalizing red dot instruction.

650 US dollars

Service Description

This red dot instructor course is a train-the-trainer program built for law enforcement, military, and civilian academy or organizational instructors who are responsible for bringing pistol-mounted red dot systems into their programs. It focuses on giving instructors a deeper understanding of how red dots actually enhance shooting, decision-making, and curriculum design so they can teach more than just “dot on target” reps. By the end of the course, instructors will know how to explain the “why” behind the dot, integrate it into existing policies and quals, and answer the most common questions from students and leadership. Participants will learn how to demonstrate proper red dot fundamentals, run effective demos at various distances, and build drills that develop practical performance instead of just flat-range comfort. The course emphasizes diagnosing shooter errors unique to red dots—presentation issues, tracking problems, visual discipline, and accountability—and giving clear, usable corrections on the line. Instructors will also work through how to structure progressions, evaluations, and sustainment plans so that red dot performance can be taught, evaluated, and maintained across a full program, not just in a one-off class.
